Vegetable-tanned leather from Atlantic salmon

We process raw skins from Atlantic salmon – a by-product of aquaculture – into strong, durable, and sustainable leather materials. Through modern tanning technology, the raw skins are transformed into a functional material with documented performance properties.

In the process, by-products are combined with state-of-the-art tanning chemistry to create a material that is both durable and safe to use. The result is leather that is strong and long-lasting, 100% biodegradable, and free from harmful residues.

We use two different tanning technologies that provide unique qualities and applications – from strong, shape-retaining leather with robust durability to light, velvety-soft varieties with an exclusive feel. These are available as both vegetable-tanned leather and naturally tanned leather.

Quality Categories

We sell leather in three quality levels: A, B, and C.
Although the hides are carefully quality-checked, scars or minor damage from filleting may occur. Factors such as the fish’s age and habitat influence the tanning process, and some skins may retain traces of scales that normally fall off at the beginning of tanning.

Use of Fish Leather

Fish leather is a versatile and durable material that can be shaped into many expressions, including clothing, bags, and accessories.

Be inspired by the possibilities and see how Norwegian fish leather can add both functionality and character to modern design. Here are some examples from the Norwegian fashion brand Mørck and our first pilot customer, Fiskin.
