From By-Product to Resource

Norsk Fjordskinn gives new life to the ocean’s resources. We develop technology and methods for tanning fish leather in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way.

Techonology for sustainable tanning of fish leather

Traditional industrial tanning is both polluting and harmful to human health. The industry has very high emissions, and 85% of tanneries worldwide use chromium compounds that can form the toxic substance chromium trioxide.

Norsk Fjordskinn is a technology company developing proprietary solutions for automated and sustainable tanning processes, enabling tanneries to produce more environmentally friendly leather.

We produce climate- and environmentally fish leather

The salmon industry in Norway produced approximately 30,000 tons of raw salmon skin in 2024. Most of it has been used for biodiesel, collagen, and animal feed.

We are developing tanned fish leather without the release of harmful chemicals.

We also utilize residual raw materials from other industries, such as the wood industry and vegetable cultivation.

Our fish leather is dyed with natural tanning agents and colorants, giving the material high quality and excellent usability.
